Madrid - Toledo - Sevilla - Granada
Itinerary *
Days 1 - 2
• Board your overnight flight to Spain and arrive in Madrid on the following day • Meet your Spain Prep Tour Director at Madrid airport • Board your bus and travel to your accommodations in downtown Madrid. As Spain's cosmopolitan capital city, Madrid continually captures the hearts of its visitors with world-famous museums, historic buildings and lively plazas • Visit Puerta del Sol, the city’s bustling central square and admire the elegant architecture and vibrant street life at Plaza Mayor • Discover the magnificent Palacio Real, considered one of the finest palaces in Europe • Take a tour of the Prado, Spain’s national art museum, home of works by Spain's great masters, including Francisco Goya, Diego Velázquez, and El Greco. |
Day 3
• Meet your Tour Director and Team Leader • Real Madrid Stadium Tour: visit the pitch, the players' tunnel, the dressing rooms, the press room and the club's official store. • Spend the evening taking a row boat on the lake, or just strolling with the locals in the Retiro Park. • Have some free time for shopping before dinner |
Day 4
• Meet your Tour Director and Team Leader • Board your bus and travel to Toledo • Spend the day at Spain's first capital, Toledo. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1986, this is the city that inspired Renaissance painter El Greco in the 16th century. Since then it has remained largely unchanged in its blend of Arabic, Jewish, Christian and Visigothic elements. • Board buses for our trip back to Madrid. Have some free time for shopping before dinner |
Day 5
• Meet your Tour Director and Team Leader • Board AVE, Spain's high-speed train, and travel to Sevilla’s city center • Have lunch and then visit Parque de Maria Luisa. (guided) • Check in your hotel or meet host families, followed by dinner. During the homestay program, breakfast and dinner will be with the host family. Box lunch will be prepared by family daily. |

Day 7
• Meet your Tour Director and Team Leader • Spend a half day visiting and attending classes at a local school. You will meet with your Spanish buddy, accompanying them in their classes. • Visit a traditional farmers market, located on the remains of an ancient castle. (guided) • Spanish tapas cooking workshop • Stroll along the historic banks of the Guadalquivir river • Return to accommodations in the evening |
• Meet your Tour Director and Team Leader • Board bus and travel to Granada • After checking in to their accommodations, students will walk the ancient streets of Granada's historic city center. And the visit the Cathedral, where they will see the tombs of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella in the Royal Chapel. |
• Meet your Tour Director and Team Leader • Today the students will visit the crown jewel of this city, the Alhambra, a 13th-century Moorish fortress comprised of patios, gardens, palaces and fountains. • After the Alhambra, the group will have time to shop around the arabic market El Zoco, or enjoy a taste of Morocco in one of Granada's many North African teterías (tea houses) located in the whitewashed neighborhood of the Albaicín. |

Mountains Day Camp
Stay an additional night in Sevilla and spend a day at a youth day camp in the mountains on the way to Sevilla. Your students will engage in fun outdoors activities, such as orienteering, raft-building and archery

Cordoba
Stay an additional night in Sevilla and visit Cordoba. Tour the Mezquita, an impressive 10th-century mosque, famous for its red and white candy cane style arches, that curiously houses a 16th-century Renaissance cathedral. They will explore the historic Jewish quarter, which has been preserved for centuries, and visit one of three original synagogues remaining in Spain.

Doñana National Park
Stay an extra night in Sevilla to visit Doñana National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage natural reserve is considered a haven for birdwatchers. It is notable for the great diversity of its biotopes, especially lagoons, marshlands, fixed and mobile dunes, scrub woodland and maquis. It is also home to five threatened bird species.
