Inaugural Conference 2019
July 12-14, 2019 Sevilla, Spain
CULTURAL PROGRAM (OPTIONAL)
NICE offers a series of optional cultural activities in beautiful Sevilla and the region for attendees:
Friday, July 12 and Saturday, July 13
Sunday, July 14: Ruta de los Pueblos Blancos (included with option #3)
The group will be picked up on Sunday morning to visit two of two towns in the Ruta de los Pueblos Blancos, Zahara de la Sierra and Ronda. The first stop will be Zahara, This mountain village, declared a Historical Site, is situated in the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park. Modern-day Zahara was founded during the period of Moorish occupation. From that period, the town still preserves, apart from the typical labyrinthine Al-Andalus urban design, its 13th century castle with restored keep and the remains of the medieval village with stretches of walls.
Also in Zahara de la Sierra, participants will visit an olive oil mill, where you'll learn how olive is made following ancient procedures.
The group will continue on to visit a local family-owned winery to enjoy an entire experience in wine culture. First, with the help of an expert guide, you will learn every step on the elaboration and development of their organic wines. There will be a wine tasting session after visiting the facilities, followed by lunch overlooking the vineyard.
The final stop will be the town of Ronda, famous for its medieval winding streets, its breathtaking bridge and its bullfight ring, the oldest in Spain.
