Day 4 - Organic Farm Visit and Cave of Marvels
Today the group went on a day trip to the mountains of Huelva to learn about sustainable agriculture. They visited a local family-run organic farm. Upon arriving, the students were divided into groups that rotated to the different workshops: planting trees, milking goats and baking rustic bread.
Accompanied by Armando and Lola, the farm owners, the group went for a walk in the farm’s meadows to see the free-roaming Iberian pigs. They learned all about this unique ecosystem and how it contributes to the quality of the fine charcuteries they make on site.
After saying good-bye to Armando and Lola, Poly Prep stopped at the town of Aracena to visit the Grutas de las Maravillas, (Cave of Marvels), a spectacular natural landmark. They explored chambers of stalagmites and stalactites, limestone ceilings and interior lakes.
